Spyderco Bodacious Aluminum Anodized Scale Sets

totally changed my Bodacious! As a Spyderco fan, I was was somewhat underwhelmed by the feel and function of a brand new Bodacious, even after tuning it up it just wasn't very smooth and the feel was meh.

I went with Ripp's because they are one of the very few options for the knife and the Aluminum scales weren't too expensive. I wasn't expecting much more than an improved grip and better looks.

The swap was super simple and everything lined up easy-peasy. tightening up the hardware centered the blade, zero blade play and it looked really nice. Then I opened it. Wow! the action was completely changed for the better. Super snappy, drop free, and the texture is positively crazy grippy.

I've bought OG, AWT, Flytanium, an several Etsy & ebay vendors and these are top notch!

I just wish they'd make more versions and cover more knives.

Beautiful scales from Ripps Garage Tech. I bought the Ripple #8 set and the colors really elevate the Bodacious. Unfortunately, they were quite rough in hand, not just on the texture but also along the chamfered edges where I expected smoothness. Under magnification it looked like anodizing edge growth or sealed machining burrs. RGT explained they don’t blast these to preserve the colors, so some roughness is normal. They handled the return well, and I upgraded to titanium scales instead — smoother and more refined, even if less visually exciting. Overall happy with the outcome.
